Painting techniques of pastel painting

The essential at pastel is the combination between drawing and painting; it is suitable for a portrait as a drawing as well as for a canvas. Pastel has a highly brilliance, very good light resistance and abounds especially on toned paper. Bigger surfaces can be worked on by smearing it by finger. Pastel pens can be used for smaller details.

The drawings are  fixed with a special spray for a non-aging conservation. By the reason that pastels consist of fine pigment dust, you can´t get even with spraying a complete smear resistance. Therefore you should frame the drawing, if you order the picture without frame. Pastels look especially striking with an added mat. Thereby the glass doesn't overlie directly on the drawing.
